The first Arunachal Pradesh CM was Prem Khandu Thungan. He remained the CM from 13 August 1975 to 18 September 1979. He was a member of Janata Party.

He was an MLA from the Dirang Kalaktang constituency. He also served as former central minister of state for Urban Development in the Government of India.
